Wonderful climate, food to die for, historic towns & villages, great beaches, and a vast array of sports & holiday fun for all
The Algarve is a fantastic destination for a holiday. It has a wonderful mild climate with many beautiful, historic towns and villages to explore. Throw in miles and miles of great beaches, food to die for, a mind-boggling array of sporting activities and you have the perfect place to visit at any time of the year.
There are too many restaurants and bars in Praia da Luz itself, Lagos and the surrounding area to mention. An information folder with suggestions is available in the villa.
Both Lisbon and Seville are possible day trips by car and, more locally, the pretty spa town of Monchique with its wooded slopes and the historic town of Silves, with its old cathedral, castle and walls are well worth a visit
The two mighty headlands of Cape St Vincent, where Portuguese navigators started their explorations of the globe, and Sagres, with its fortress ruins, are located approximately 25km away. This is the most south westerly tip of europe.
The new Grand Prix motor racing circuit at Portimaio is 15 minutes drive and offers the opportunity not only to spectate but also participate.
Typical Algarve holiday activities are all available locally or within a short drive including Lagos Zoo, walking, cycling, health and fitness centres and spas, Dolphin spotting and interaction, various boat charters, diving, deep sea fishing, off road motor sports, mountain biking and a variety of watersports such as wind surfing, surfing, body boarding, kayaking.
The west coast of the Algarve offers excellent surfing conditions with the two best surfing beaches at Arnado and Arrifana, see our links for surfing schools.
Last, but certainly not least, there is golf: with Boavista golf complex less than five minutes drive and many more including the new Faldo course at the Amendoeria Golf Resort within 30 minutes.
